On May 21, 2024, a simple online connection turned into something neither of us expected — or could ever have imagined.We had our first date the very next evening at The Dolphin Restaurant in Harpswell. What was meant to be dinner quickly became the beginning of everything. Just three days later, we were boating out to Jewel Island and dropping anchor in Cocktail Cove — sun, salt air, and the unmistakable feeling that something special was unfolding.Before long, Wednesdays became ours. So did the weekends. By the Fourth of July long weekend, we knew. On July 7, 2024, we officially became a couple — though in our hearts, it had already happened.From Boston to Belfast, we explored the cities and coastal towns hand in hand. We cooked dinners together, shared quiet evenings on the deck, and discovered that time apart felt like months rather than days. Life felt lighter, fuller, and more certain.On Saturday, December 21, 2024, we had planned a beautiful evening — a nice dinner and the exchange of engagement bracelets. But we couldn’t wait. Instead, we had breakfast in bed, looked at each other, and knew. We placed the bracelets on each other’s wrists that morning, and they’ve only come off for very specific reasons since.In May 2025, we officially moved in together — not just sharing a home, but building a life. And every day since has confirmed what we felt that first week:We found our person.

What airport should we fly into?The closest airport is Portland International Jetport (PWM), located about 15 minutes from downtown Portland. It’s a small, easy airport with rental cars and ride-share services readily available. If you’re looking for more flight options, Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is another good choice and is about a 2–2.5 hour drive north of Portland. How do we get around once we arrive?Portland is very easy to navigate. Guests typically use:Ride-share services (Uber &amp; Lyft)Rental carsWalking, especially if staying downtown What will the weather be like in early October?Early October in Portland is classic Maine fall weather. Expect daytime highs in the mid-50s to low-60s and cooler evenings in the 40s. The air can be crisp, especially near the water, and there’s always a chance of light rain. What should we pack?We recommend packing layers! A light jacket or sweater, comfortable walking shoes, and something warm for the evening will go a long way. Fall colors are usually in full swing, so feel free to lean into cozy, autumn-friendly outfits. Where should we stay?We’ll be sharing hotel recommendations and room block information on this site. Portland has a great mix of hotels, inns, and short-term rentals, but October is a popular time of year, so we encourage booking early. What is there to do in Portland?So much! If you’re making a weekend of it, some favorite activities include:Exploring the Old Port for shopping, dining, and waterfront viewsEnjoying Portland’s food scene (seafood lovers, you’re in the right place)Visiting nearby lighthouses or coastal townsTaking in Maine’s beautiful fall foliageWe’ll share more local favorites soon. When should we arrive?Most guests plan to arrive on Friday, October 2, and depart on Sunday, October 4, to enjoy the full weekend and celebrate with us.
